inbuxa, ten days in: the migrator, compliance features, and a demo

Ten days after the launch, I wrote up what has shipped since:

  • inbuxa-migrate 2026.9.30, the first release of the migration tool. It reads JMAP, IMAP, Maildir, Google Takeout, Exchange Server (EWS), Exchange Online (Graph), and calendars and contacts over CalDAV/CardDAV.
  • Compliance: an audit log, locked accounts with delegates, legal holds with exports, data loss prevention, journaling, and a data inventory.
  • A cluster in production. A single server is still the normal setup; a cluster is optional and runs the same program.
  • A demo at demo.inbuxa.org, with nothing to install.

What I’d like from this thread:

  • If you’re planning a migration, tell me where your mail lives now. If it’s something the migrator doesn’t read yet, that tells me what to build next. Outlook PST files, cPanel backups and Zimbra exports are the ones I know about.
  • If you’d like to write an importer, start a topic in Development and we’ll work out the shape together. The code is at git.coffeylabs.org/inbuxa/inbuxa-migrate, under Apache-2.0 or MIT.
  • If you tried the demo, say what read well and what didn’t.

And if inbuxa is useful to you, sponsoring on GitHub and a star on github.com/inbuxa both help.
